Home » My Cable Box MADE Me Watch It

I have never realized how entertaining it is to speculate what sort of television shows a complete stranger may watch till today. The events that occered in our house today also put a new spin on that.

A little tiny set up for ya: we have digital cable and just two weeks ago we decided to get a DVR box (which BTW we have already had to switch out once because the harddrive was fried). So we have already been experiencing alot of problems with this new box. Plus there seems to be some service interuptions which the cable company says they are “investigating”.

Last night and this morning my husband kept trying to view the OnDemand movie list. Everytime he tried to access it the picture would just freeze up and nothing more would happen. Assuming it was again a problem with the box he called them this morning and they scheduled a tech to come out and take a look at it. At this point we just figured we’ll get a new box and try again :Q . Fast-forward through the day a bit now.
[Scene: we get home from running errands and start settling in to wait for the tech to show up. My husband, our two daughters, and myself are all sitting in the living room collectively getting ready to watch some TV (child appropriate of course seeing as our kids are toddler age and younger).]

Hubby says “Hey hun I wonder if the box is still actin funny. Why don’t ya check it out.” Curious myself to even see what it is doing I decide to try and access OnDemand. The picture freezes up… then to our surprise the menu appears on the screen. “Wow hun it looks like it fixed itself.” I say in surprise, but too soon.

As soon as the words touch my husbands ears the menu that is on the screen mysteriously begins to navigate itself even selecting items. As my husband watches the screen he asks me “What are you looking for?” This is when I set the remote on the coffee table and let him know I’m not the one doing it.

We watch the menu continue to navigate, shocked to say the least. Whoever or whatever was controling our television navigated through looking in different catagories choosing to see the description of different shows/movies obviously looking for something to watch. We just watched curious to find out where it would go and what it would do next. Now the fact it was doing all of this was surprising enough, but what we noticed next sent us into panicked fits of laughter.

As we watched the menu the “ghost” proceeded to a catagory called “here!”. Now most of the people I’ve been around or talk to don’t even know what that catagory is let alone that it even exists. If you don’t know “here!” is a catagory with various homosexual oriented shows on it. Apparently our “ghost” did not know this :) and this was obvious by the way the catagory got navigated.

Cruising in the “ghost” (who obviously was lookin for some good skin action to watch) immediatly selected a show called “Sexploration” and then the screen paused… We pictured our ghost reading the shows description; getting caught up on a word, and then reading it again slowly to let it sink in. “ho-mo-er-o-tic” Then with amazing speed we saw the menu back out of “here!” navigate to the “Cinemax After Dark” menu and seemingly select the first skin flick it could find and begin watching it. Boobs and butt plastered our screen :lol

After a pause; in a shocked and hilarious daze, hubby and I realized what both our children were now watching. Of course they were both glued to it trying to figure out what they were seeing. My husbands hands flew to the girls eyes and I hit exit as fast as I could, hoping that the exit button would work in all this wierdness.

We decided (while the kids were awake at least >:) ) that would should just not look into the OnDemnd menu again. Shortly after that the tech showed up and we explained what had happen. After a good laugh by all he decided to see for himself what it was doing. After carefully removing the children from the room he selected the OnDemnd menu. The story got even funnier when we saw what our “ghost” was now watching. Our ghost went straight from “here!” to soft core porn and then decided to settle on a Hillary Duff movie :lol

Needless to say after all was said and done the tech told us they would fix it. He also called in to make sure none of this was getting charged to our account (which meant my husband continued to check OnDemand to see what our “ghost ” was watching :* ) We were grateful the kids didn’t ask questions about what they had seen, and hope they really didn’t “see” anything.

LMAO!!! Ohh my goodness.. We had an incident with not know what channels we’re what when we first got our box. And Jennah caught a brief view of some hooters.. lmao Some really BIG hooters.. lmao Ooo goodness.. I’m so happy you haven’t been dodging the questions with Mo about it, needless to say we’re figured out really quickly how to parent lock those channels..

Rather amusing to see what some ppl are into checkin out isn’t it? lol
